Our District Cloud is now online. You should be able to log into your new Google Mail, Calendar, and Drive Apps using the links in the District Cloud section of the Resources menu. You can use the information below to connect your mobile device to the new District Cloud services.
Configure Google Apps for your Mobile Device
Here are links to Google's Android and iPhone/iPad Mobile Enterprise User setup instructions. Some of the instructions provide you with options, and you may be asked to choose from a list of these options (or provide mail server information) when setting up your devices. Here are our recommendations.
1. The simplest method to connect your mobile device to your new Google Apps for Education account is to download and use the native Google programs that are designed for mobile devices. The Android Apps are available in the Play Store and iPhone/iPad Apps are available in the App Store. Here is a link to a description of the available Google Mobile Apps for Android and iPhone/iPad. If you decide to use the Mobile Apps, your user name is your entire e-mail address (include the @banks.k12.or.us after your login name) and your password is unique to this account - your Novell or BanksK12 Cloud passwords will not provide you with access to your new District Cloud account.
2. If you decide to use an e-mail program such as Mac Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird, we recommend using the IMAP option (rather than the POP option) when you add your new District Cloud account.
3. Your IMAP username will be your entire e-mail address (include the @banks.k12.or.us after your login name) and your password is unique to this account - your Novell or BanksK12 Cloud passwords will not provide you with access to your new District Cloud account.
Note: you may be able to create a District Cloud password that matches your Novell or BanksK12 Cloud account - but your District Cloud username and password information is stored in a different location than your other account usernames and passwords.
4. Here are the incoming IMAP mail settings:
- Server Name = imap.gmail.com
- Port = 993
- Connection Security = SSL/TLS
- Authentication Method = Normal Password
5. Here are the outgoing mail settings:
- Server Name = smtp.gmail.com
- Port = 587
- Connection Security = STARTTLS
- Authentication Method = Normal Password
The BanksK12 Cloud will continue to be available, and students will begin using this Cloud in September 2013. Teachers are encouraged to maintain their existing Mail, Calendar, Sites and Drive in the BanksK12 Cloud.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
OAKS Test Administrator training materials are now available online. Resources are available in the new Staff Training Resources section of the BanksK12 HelpDesk menu on the left side of the page.
We will be updating our Java 6 plug-ins during the 2012-13 school year on teacher computers. Please do not install Java 7 because it is not compatible with our eSIS application. We are sending an e-mail to everyone with more information and posting these Java Plug-in Update Directions for your convenience. These directions can be used for home and school computers.
